No one wants to be a sheep following everyone else but i cant deny that this is the very best ac/dc album out there. The fact is that pretty much all of ac/dcs albums contain some filler, maybe a bit like priest and maiden and even sabbath, it happens and thats the way it goes. This is the ac/dc album that contains no filler, highway to hell was also a masterpiece but this betters that just. The album was born from tragedy of course, i think everyone knows the story but from the rebirth came the high point of the bands career and they have never bettered it in the 30 years since although im very fond of black ice. The album has a real swagger about it, confident and it knows this is the bomb. Do not hesitate for a second, this is the album that you have read about alright and more. | REVIEW BY ANONYMOUS ON 20 JULY 2010 |

I've just got round to upgrading to this remastered version of Back In Black, after acquiring all of the classic AC/DC remasters over the last few years. Having bought them in various formats during the 1980's and 90's I picked up these versions sporadically since 2003.
The actual remastering sounds great, but the fact I left it till last confirms what I always felt really, and that is slight bemusement as to why Back In Black is held in such monumentally high regard in comparison to other AC/DC albums. It is, in my opinion, a brilliant album (see the gushing reviews of others for more praise), but I've never thought of it as the magnum opus of AC/DC. Totally subjective of course, but in an effort to get a bit of perspective and stop this monstrous commercial juggernaut from stealing the thunder of other great albums by the band, pre-1980 albums especially, I feel I should only give it four stars.
If you're an AC/DC fan, you shouldn't need any encouragement regarding Bon Scott era offerings, but just in case you're thinking Back In Black is indeed the pinnacle of what this great band ever achieved, check out those earlier albums and you may think again.

This is just a great album with great song after great song. Memories of seeing the Hells Bells tour just came flooding back. Vintage ACDC and highly recommended to all. | REVIEW BY ANONYMOUS ON 12 JULY 2010 |

I found the music loud and difficult to get into. It did not grip me and I would not try ACDC again | REVIEW BY ANONYMOUS ON 08 JUNE 2010 |
| | | | | | PURE BLACK MAGIC! ONE OF THE GREATEST ROCK ALBUMS EVER! - Scores 5/5
This was the first album I ever bought - probably because I liked the single 'Shook me all night long' and AC/DC were gathering a cult following in my secondary school as lads competed with each other as to whether Mods or Rockers were the coolest to be ... I remember playing the LP for the first time and was exhilerated by the energy and power of all the tracks. For a catholic boy it felt a bit of a guilty pleasure to enjoy an album that had so many references to hell and death...
Later when it turned out our priest was molesting local boys, this album seemed to provide the perfect emotional response to man made institutionalised religion. The album's raw energy and fantastic sound made my pulse race hard and air guitar playing was inevitable (much to my initial embarassment when my mum walked in to see me dancing around the room naked except for skimpy shorts head banging away). This music is born to be played LOUD. The songs are as fresh as the day they were first wrote - the guitar playing is awesome and Johnson does a great job of the singing - his voice capturing a malevolence and anger that haunts the album and provides a fitting tribute to the former lead singer Bon Scott.
An oft neglected thing to mention about this album are the amazing lyrics - fitting the music perfectly in terms of their raw power and serving to give songs such as Helle Bells a chilling, haunting feel.
My favourite song is probably 'Let me put my love into you' - great build up,superb sound and vocals.
I have played this album on and off now for about thirty years and it still sounds fresh and exciting - a superb rock album and what air guitars were made for.
AC/DC have been going around for a long time now - check them out on You tube if you haven't heard them before. There are some great clips. The Iron Man 2 film has given them a new audience and the soundtrack album is basically a compilation of some of the best and popular AC/DC songs. If you just buy Back in Black and no other album then you are missing out on some fantastic music - the guys have written some fantastic tracks and there is no sinngle album that does justice to all their magnificent output. After Back in Black I would recommend the Iron MAN 2 (even though 3 songs are taken from Back in Black) and then you will start to notice the fun, crazy aspect of Bon Scotts vocals and want to hear more ...thus beginning a great adventure into quality, exciting rock music.
Back in Black is one of the best rock albums ever - and certainly one of the most popular - but arguably not AC/DC's best. A great album to start with but don't make it your last: Iron MAN 2 If You Want Rock... Highway to Hell Let there Rock
All these must surely follow. | REVIEW BY ANONYMOUS ON 16 MAY 2010 |
